    The Divided Sky

So, I was having a seriously geeky email debate with Charlie Dirksen and Scott Marks (from Phish.net) about the official name of this song, and why Phish.net uses the word 'the' in front of almost every song except for this one. While doing the tracking of these shows I've been remastering lately, I try to be as technically correct with the song names as I can, so it seemed inconsistent to me that Phish.net would use The Horse, The Lizards, The Sloth, The Landlady, The Oh Kee Pa Ceremony, The Man Who Stepped Into Yesterday, etc... but *not* The Divided Sky, when it clearly is the official name of the song since it was actually printed on a studio album release. Scott sent me this photo, which was from late in 2010. I lol'ed. Especially at the "Seriously, I really have to Jiboo" part. 🤣

Hey everyone, just joined tonight and look forward to checking out this forum. Thanks for sharing the site and glad to see you're using the filters to customize your experience. If you include the TAB stuff from 2002-03 under the Bands filter it ends up being over 3 solid weeks of nothing but improv so you can always find something new. The archive has a bunch of playlists with filters already preset for you, broken down by the theme of the playlist. The Playlist filter has a few themed playlists such as Bliss, Hose, Dark/Evil, Ambient, Festivals etc. plus our Top 25 series where we pick our top jams from a select year into a playlist if you want all killer, no filler. Thanks again for sharing and look forward to contributing here. Cheers!

    The Divided Sky

Really though, would the definite article “the” be appropriate, wouldn’t an indefinite “A” be more fitting. A divided sky, the wind blows high. Unless it is some royal, grand, well known Divided Sky, like THE Divided Sky. “Look kids, it’s THE Divided Sky, and there’s Big Ben....and.....parliament.”

Standard fare for Spring '94? A well executed, quick Landlady opener brings the first set up to the frenzied pace that SOAM closes with. I think I finally found SOAMs I enjoy and they were all played in '94. Between Landlady and SOAM is the consistency you'd expect out of '94 shows. Tight versions of DWD, Tela, and Poor Heart with an interesting segue in Fee and build to Foam. The Runaway Jim is the show highlight for me. Trey and Fish are feral on this thing. Overall, a solid set with dream song selection, flow and ebb. Unfortunately the two acoustic songs in the middle of set I are nearly inaudible from the sbd. Set 2 Antelope gets dirty and playful like any good '94 Antelope with a few Layla teases sprinkled around the opening section. Divided Sky is played with a lot of gusto and I found myself revisiting it a few times after listening through the show. I'm not sure what it is, but I'm enamored with Trey's playing on this Divided before the peak. Something so pleasing about that '94 tone and playing. Again, tight versions of great song selection and placement fill out the rest of the set with Coil, Curtain, Sample. Strong... maybe unremarkable by '94 standards, encores. http://phish.in/1994-04-25

Is a little consistency too much to ask for?

Yes, but LivePhish releases are inconsistent in and of themselves. The song 'Timber (Jerry The Mule)' has been listed as 'Timber', 'Timber (Jerry)', etc. as one example, so if in doubt, I've been allowing the studio releases to trump the LivePhish track names.

    Phish videos

I posted another VHS redux. Recently a new tape popped up. Someone had shot almost two hours of 12/30/98 MSG on hi8. They copied that tape to VHS and lost the original master hi8 tape. Some songs are snippets, some almost complete but a few good full length songs too. I was given the VHS and made a new transfer upscaling to 1440x1080. I compared ten or so audio sources and chose on the sync up. Did a little bit of mastering on the recording as well. My rig has been in storage and my new home studio still haven’t started being built. So I didn’t go too crazy with it. Anyway it’s done and I posted it yesterday.

    Helping Friendly Podcast

https://www.osirispod.com So somewhat recently, the "Under The Scales" podcast was combined with a bunch of other podcasts into an (ironically named) entity called the "Osiris Podcast Network." The "Helping Friendly Podcast" is a part of this group (which is in partnership with Relix.) In any event, they're having me on their show to talk about the remastered Phish shows that have been released recently. We're recording it Thursday night. Is anyone familiar with this podcast? Should be cool... I have no idea how the whole thing is going to work, or what medium will be used to have the discussion remotely.
