Tron Legacy

It's online here in bootleg form, tough to see, but you get the idea. http://gizmodo.com/5029479/tron-2-trailer-...s-wet-worldwide
A few things have this project headed in the right direction. Jeff Bridges, without Flynn, the movie wouldn't work IMO. Pixar involvement. Tron was the first CGI movie, I think for the sequel to work, it needs to be a next gen. computer animated flick with some live action, like the first. From the footage we saw, that's exactly where they are headed (young Flynn, cgi to make Bridges young again in the computer world....unreal!). Pixar tends to do things right, so I hope that's the case here.
Tron was a movie that made me love games and computers at a young age, it tied the two together better than any other film (yes, better than the Last Starfighter). I look forward to a new one, and hope it can do justice to the monumental first film.

Its kind of funny too b/c Bridges looks a little like The Dude in the trailer. I hope I can watch TR2N without thinking about bowling and caucasians.

Yeah, he had a very scruffy but buddhist like appearance. Meditating while his virtual self is riding the light cycle.
The reaction from the crowd while it showed was awesome. When it came up there was silence and collective holy fucking shit gasps. Then bridges hit and everyone wanted to bust out of their seats, but didn't so they could hear what was said. The CG bike footage was awesome, and looked exactly as it should now without "redoing" the first movies look. Then the last shot of Bridges looking young in the Tron world...perfect.

To add to the kickassery of the Tron world, Tron 2 is being done entirely in 3d (real D).
Quote
With new technology, they can actually wear the glasses at the monitors as they shoot & it will show them exactly how the 3-D will look so that they can get exactly what they are looking for.
If there has ever been a world that 3-D would totally embrace, I think it would be the world of Tron. Specifically, we are going to get a first person view from inside of a light cycle in the film. That should be a lot of fun.
They also cast Olivia Wilde (from Touristas) as a "a worker in the virtual world who tries to help fight Master Control Program, the villainous intelligence protocol that was the nemesis in the original film." Another actor from Touristas, Beau Garrett, was cast. The only other confirmed actor so far is of course, The Dude, Mr. Jeff Bridges.

Release is 2011.

And this movie will be awesome.

For the box office, the fans, or both? Marketing can achieve the former for any piece of shit, really.

Uh, you're a flop... :hmm:
Don't be rainin' on my parade, yo. Actually, I guess I don't care if it's successful, I just want to get in touch with my inner child...wait, that expression sounds a little creepy--touching, children...
Never mind, it's gonna be flop. :uhoh:
