yeah, thanks for that link. I've downloaded about 15 of their shows, there are other sbds over at archive.org available for download, I recommend the bear creek festival one from 11.15. i'm looking forward to checking them out live.

I've yet to see them live, I downloaded & listened to the show above and have listened to a couple other shows as well. They're good, and it seems like it would be a fun live show, but there's only a certain amount of 3-chord funk songs I can take in a row. They're talented musicians, but it seems like they don't put a lot of time/effort into writing/composing songs. It sort of sounds like they're playing the same song over an over again with slight differences.

They're sort of a cross between the Greyboys and the Meters, but are not on the level of either of those bands though IMO.

They have pretty damn good energy live. For some reason, the repetitive style just works when they're up there in person. It's kinda mystifying - I can only take a half a dozen of those tunes before I tune out on my stereo... but live, they are smokin.

yeah...it seems like they would be good live. When listening at home or in my car, I find myself wanting to skip to the next song half way through a lot of songs.

I just put links for a few more NMS shows in the "take a sendspace, leave a sendspace" thread. The show from 4-29-08 with Karl Denson is sweet.
